Midgar for $6.39
The FINAL FANTASY VII Switch deal is a simple one: the US Nintendo eShop has the Midgar RPG at $6.39, down from $15.99, about 60% off. Square Enix calls it “the timeless classic loved by a legion of fans”, and we think it’s a bargain at that price. The sale ends 11/16/26 at 11:59 p.m. PST, which is 07:59 UTC on 17 November. Price checked on 6 November 2026.
What the Switch port adds
This is a port of the original game, and the store page lists three extras: a 3x speed mode, the ability to turn battle encounters off, and a battle enhancement mode. We’d call those the real draw. A 1997-era RPG is far easier to fit around a busy week when you can speed it up or skip the random fights.
It runs in TV, tabletop and handheld modes for one player, and the download is 3.9 GB. The listing also shows Nintendo Switch 2 as supported, with behaviour consistent with Nintendo Switch. Cloud save backup needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

More Square Enix RPGs in the sale
If Midgar leaves you wanting more, the same eShop listing shows FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE at $7.99 against a $39.99 regular price, which we covered in our Remake Intergrade deal post. CRISIS CORE –FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION is $29.99, down from $49.99.
Want another old-school Switch RPG afterwards? Collection of Mana is another one worth a look.
These are US store prices for the digital edition, and they end with the sale. We wouldn’t wait: at $6.39 there’s little reason to hold out for a deeper cut.
