These Stardew Valley mods come from the top of Nexus Mods’ own rankings. The figure on each card is endorsements as of 27 October 2026, rounded, and it only changes when we recheck the list.
Stardew’s most popular mods are mostly loaders and settings tools, plus a few that make the game easier to read and big content packs such as Stardew Valley Expanded.
Framework

Content Patcher
by Pathoschild
Loads content packs that change the game’s data, images and maps without replacing the original files. Packs can react to weather, date and festivals, and are easy to install and uninstall.

SMAPI – Stardew Modding API
by Pathoschild
The mod loader for Stardew Valley. It works with GOG and Steam achievements, runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and can be uninstalled at any time.

Generic Mod Config Menu (GMCM)
by spacechase0
Adds an in-game screen for changing mod settings, from the title screen or the in-game options menu, with changes live after saving.
Interface

NPC Map Locations
by Bouhm and Pathoschild
Shows where villagers and players are on the world map, with an optional minimap. It supports custom maps and NPCs, and multiplayer.

Lookup Anything
by Pathoschild
Point at something and press a key to see details: a villager’s favorite gifts, when a crop will be ready, how long a fence will last, why animals are unhappy, and more.
Expansion
Stardew Valley Expanded
by FlashShifter
A big fan-made expansion. Its page lists 28 new NPCs, 58 locations, 278 events, 43 fish and three farm maps, along with a reworked world map.
