Free shop, if you find it
What this fixes: paying V-Bucks for Treasure Hunters cosmetics you could get for nothing. Who it’s for: Battle Royale players already grinding the season who want to know how the Pirate Shop works before they stumble onto a token and waste it. Destructoid and Polygon both report that a Pirate Shop token makes the Item Shop’s V-Bucks-priced items free to claim. The hard part is getting lucky enough to find one.
Where the tokens come from
Epic’s Treasure Hunters season post, dated 30 October, covers the season that began on 1 November, but it doesn’t mention the Pirate Shop. The how-to detail below comes from Destructoid and Polygon, who describe what’s live in the season now.
- Find a special chest. Destructoid says these chests don’t have fixed locations and that the odds appear to be quite low. Polygon calls them Treasure-Hunt chests, says they can give a free gizmo, a cosmetic item or a token, and describes the Pirate Shop Access token as a rare reward.
- Open it and hope. If the token drops, access to the Pirate Shop is the reward, per Destructoid.
- Check the team. Destructoid says that in a squad only one player needs to find the token, and every teammate gets access. Polygon likewise says the whole team can plunder the shop.
- Activate the token when you’re ready. Neither source gives a menu path for this, so we won’t guess at one.
Polygon’s tip for raising your odds is to play Squads and to visit named locations with more loot, since those should have more Treasure-Hunt chests to find. Polygon also says Treasure Hours, which start the Sunday after launch, are rumoured to raise the token’s spawn rate. Epic’s post confirms Treasure Hours Sundays run throughout the season, with boosted drops, but says nothing about the token. Treat that as a rumour.

Two windows, then 14 days
Destructoid says the tokens come in two types. One can be activated any time until 15 December 2026. The other can be activated at any point between 1 January and 15 December 2027. Polygon describes the same split: once before 15 December, and once again in 2027.
Once a token is activated, Destructoid says you have 14 days to claim everything you can find in the Item Shop; Polygon describes it as two weeks. Destructoid says items priced in V-Bucks are free in that window, while bundles and items that cost real money are excluded. Polygon adds that sidekicks you’ve already bought once and special real-money purchases such as the Fortnite Crew are also left out. It also says anything you claim stays in your locker permanently, even after the token expires.
Polygon puts the first One Piece bundle (Luffy, Nami and Usopp) at 4,000 V-Bucks, and says skins, emotes and Jam Tracks in the shop count too.

Time the activation
Epic’s post lists the shop lineup in stages: Luffy, Nami and Usopp at launch, A$AP Rocky on 5 November at 7 PM ET, Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick on 7 November, Lil Uzi Vert on 12 November, Buggy on 13 November, and Kasane Teto and Cap’n Hatsune Miku on 14 November. Because a token gives you only 14 days, we wouldn’t activate the moment it drops if you want specific outfits that haven’t arrived yet. That’s our read of the schedule, not advice either outlet gives.
We’d also play the season in squads. Both Destructoid and Polygon say one found token covers the team, and with odds this low, extra pairs of hands seem the sensible way to improve them.
Epic also asks players to keep Saturday 5 December open for the Chapter 7 end event. Destructoid frames Pirate Shop access as running from 1 November to 5 December, while the tokens’ own activation windows run to 15 December 2026 and through 2027. The sources don’t spell out how those fit together, and we’d want that cleared up before banking on a late token.

Platforms: Epic’s post doesn’t list platforms for this feature, and the sources don’t confirm consoles for it, so we’re treating this as a PC guide. Sources checked 2 November 2026: Epic’s Treasure Hunters news post, Destructoid and Polygon.
