A cheap way to wait
Bethesda revealed the title The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel this week, with no release date, so Skyrim is going to be doing a lot of heavy lifting for a while yet. GOG has The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition at $9.99, 75% off its $39.99 price, until about 10:00 SAST on Thursday 5 November.
It isn’t a record, and we won’t dress it up as one. GOG’s own page lists the lowest price in the last 30 days before the discount as $9.99, so it has already been this cheap recently. We checked GOG’s US store, priced in USD, at about 07:23 SAST on Wednesday 4 November. No membership is needed.

What GOG’s page lists
GOG is a DRM-free store, and it lists this as a Windows release. The Special Edition includes the game and add-ons, with remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field and screen-space reflections, according to GOG’s description, which also says it won more than 200 Game of the Year Awards. GOG’s minimum PC spec is Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5-750 or AMD Phenom II X4-945, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 470 1GB or HD 7870 2GB, and 26 GB of storage. Its users rate it 4.4 out of 5 from 1,309 reviews.
If Bethesda’s other big RPG is more your speed, Fallout 4 dropped to $4.99 on Steam in a deal we covered in October; that sale has likely ended, but it comes round often.

Our view: if you’ve never owned Skyrim, or you want a copy outside a launcher, $9.99 is an easy yes, and the clock is short. If you can wait, the 30-day low suggests the price may come round again, though GOG doesn’t promise that. For more on the store, see how GOG’s Preservation Program added Mortal Kombat 4.
