Out of early access
Enshrouded is out of early access. Keen Games’ survival action RPG hit 1.0 on October 15, close to three years after it entered early access, with a finished map, a finished main story and a level cap raised to 50. The full list is in the 1.0 changelog on Steam.
What changed
| Area | 1.0 |
|---|---|
| Map | Emberval complete, with the main quest pointing you to areas you haven’t seen |
| Story | Main story wrapped up, “for now” |
| Progression | Player level cap 50, gear level cap 55 |
| Lore | Letters, notes and books fully voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese |
| Creation | Sparkworks logic system for building your own gameplay in shared worlds |
| Visuals | New rendering tech, per-biome lighting, added character animations |
The story line carries a caveat. Keen says it is complete “for now”, which, as Rock Paper Shotgun notes, hints at more to come without any timing.
Sparkworks is the update most likely to change how people play. Keen describes it as a logic system that lets players “create their own gameplay in their worlds”, building on the Adventure Sharing feature added during early access.
Combat and spells have also had a pass, with new spells added alongside the rendering work.

Keen Games says new rendering tech gives each biome its own lighting in 1.0. Image: Keen Games, via Steam.
What it means for you
If you dropped Enshrouded during early access because the map ended or the story stopped, both are now done, and the higher caps give existing characters somewhere to go. Enshrouded is on Steam now.
