Hogwarts Legacy is $5.99 on Steam, but the $6.99 Deluxe Edition is the one to buy

Both editions are 90% off until October 22, and the extra dollar gets you a DLC pack that costs more on its own. DLSS 5 arrives for RTX 50 owners two weeks later.

Deluxe costs only a dollar more

Steam has Hogwarts Legacy for $5.99, down 90% from $59.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition is $6.99, down from $69.99. Both prices end on October 22. Price checked on Steam on 18 October 2026, 11:12 SAST; deals can change.

EditionPriceWasWhat’s included
Standard$5.99$59.99Base game
Digital Deluxe$6.99$69.99Base game, Dark Arts Pack and Dark Arts Garrison Hat
Dark Arts Pack only$1.99$19.99Thestral mount, Battle Arena and cosmetic set

Spend the extra dollar

The Digital Deluxe Edition adds a Thestral mount, the Dark Arts Battle Arena, a Dark Arts cosmetic set and the Dark Arts Garrison Hat. The Dark Arts Pack on its own is $1.99 in the same sale, but it doesn’t include the hat, so Standard plus the pack would cost $7.98 and still get you less. Deluxe is $6.99.

None of that is essential, and the base game is complete without it. But at a dollar more, we think there’s no reason to buy the Standard Edition today.

The timing is better than it looks

Avalanche Software’s open-world RPG launched in February 2023 and, according to Nvidia, has sold more than 40 million copies. On Steam, it’s rated Very Positive, with about 337,000 of 376,000 user reviews positive. It’s not a new game, but it’s about to get a significant graphics upgrade.

Nvidia says DLSS 5 with its 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model comes to Hogwarts Legacy on November 5, for GeForce RTX 50 Series cards, GeForce NOW and RTX Spark machines. We covered the wider DLSS update in our piece on Nvidia’s faster Frame Generation preset, and Hogwarts is one of the first games to get the new model.

If you have an RTX 50 card, buying now at $6.99 means it’s installed and waiting when the update lands. If you don’t, it’s still a big open-world RPG for less than $7.

Who should skip it

If you already own it on another platform, the PC version only really earns its place for the DLSS 5 update on an RTX 50 card. And if you’d rather spend under $20 on something meatier, Steam’s recent Cyberpunk 2077 discount is worth a look too. Otherwise, at under $7, this is an easy one.
