Metacritic 90, OpenCritic 91
This is a review roundup — GearChamber has not played Hollow Knight: Silksong. Consensus score: 90 (Metacritic PC), with OpenCritic’s 2025 PC average at 91.
Team Cherry’s sequel launched 4 September 2025. Steam’s recommendation counter was already past 380,000 when we checked the Steam store page on 15 Oct 2026 — a player-score avalanche sitting under a still-excellent critic floor.
What the outlets scored
| Outlet | Score | Takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| PC Gamer | 90 | High 90 from PC Gamer’s review |
| IGN | 9/10 | PC review published 24 Sep 2025 |
| Metacritic PC | 90 | Aggregate of scored critic reviews |
| OpenCritic (PC 2025) | 91 | Top-ten PC 2025 placement |

Where the conversation landed
The critic band is tight: PC Gamer 90, IGN 9/10, Metacritic 90, OpenCritic 91. That is the opposite of Expedition 33’s spread — here the argument is less “is it good?” and more “how does Hornet’s kit change the old Hallownest grammar?”
User-score volume on Steam is the other story. A recommendation total north of 380k at check time is not a Metacritic user board; it is still a loud signal that the wait did not curdle for the installed base.
Consensus
A 90–91 critic consensus with enormous Steam enthusiasm is as clean a buy signal as 2025’s PC releases offered. If you wanted more Hollow Knight, the outlets say you got it without the soft-reboot tax.
