Day-one driver support
Nvidia released GeForce Game Ready driver 616.56 on August 26, and it’s built around one launch: STAR WARS Zero Company, which gets day-one support for both DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation. The WHQL-certified driver also adds Game Ready support for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, both out this week.
Beyond the new-game support, 616.56 patches two game-specific bugs. DOOM: The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could blow past their VSYNC frame cap when DLSS Frame Generation was set to 3x or higher, and that’s fixed. So is a texture-flicker bug in Outer Worlds that Nvidia’s own R595 and R610 drivers had introduced. The general fix list runs longer than usual: a GameVisual color-profile bug in Asus Armory Crate, a crash on RTX 4000-series cards inside the CAD tool Chief Architect, a driver-crash fix for some 32-bit DirectX 12 applications, an OpenCL buffer limit in Tycho Tracker, and, oddly, a fix for the driver misidentifying the Claude Desktop app as a 3D application.

Nvidia isn’t the only one racing to cover Zero Company’s launch. AMD shipped its own day-one driver, Adrenalin 26.8.1, on August 20 with the same game supported, but that release carries a rougher known-issues list: AMD is telling Radeon RX 9000-series owners to roll back to Adrenalin 26.7.1 because Starfield is crashing on the new driver, and FSR upscaling has been reported showing as inactive in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s open beta. Nvidia’s 616.56 known-issues list is shorter by comparison, limited to the “Prefer Maximum Performance” power management mode not always applying correctly.
Whether that gap holds up depends on what turns up once more players are running the driver outside of launch-week testing; Nvidia’s shorter list reflects what’s been reported so far, not a guarantee nothing else surfaces.

GeForce 616.56 is available now through the Nvidia App and GeForce Experience as a roughly 939MB download for Windows 10 and 11. Anyone picking up Zero Company, Resonance, or Hell Let Loose: Vietnam this week should grab it before launching; everyone else can wait unless they’re hitting one of the specific bugs on the fix list.
