Not arriving this year
The Duskbloods will not arrive this year. FromSoftware has moved its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive from 2026 to 2027, and the only reason it gives is that it wants more time to get the game rules and balance right.
The change was posted on the game’s official site on 29 October and repeated in a KADOKAWA group news release dated 30 October. Both list the release window as “2027” and nothing more: no month, no quarter, no day.

Why FromSoftware moved it
The notice doesn’t point to a problem. In our translation of the Japanese text, FromSoftware says players who took part in the network test in August 2026 rated the game’s concept highly: that it can be enjoyed not only through direct combat but through varied approaches and strategies. The studio wants to deliver that concept at a higher level and a better overall experience, so it is setting aside a period for final adjustment of the game rules and balance.
The notice closes with an apology to the fans who have been waiting and a request for their understanding. GamesRadar, which reported the delay separately, says FromSoftware also posted the news on Twitter and describes last month’s Nintendo Direct as having passed without a release date for the game.

What we know about the game
The KADOKAWA release describes The Duskbloods as a multiplayer action game for Nintendo Switch 2, published by FromSoftware and Nintendo. It supports up to eight players online, with players fighting each other as well as enemies. Players become members of a dusk-blooded kin, given superhuman power by a special blood, and fight over the “First Blood” (our translation of the Japanese terms). The release also notes that some modes and features need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Anyone planning their Switch 2 year can now shuffle the calendar. The Switch 2’s 2027 calendar is starting to fill up, and 007 First Light finally has a Switch 2 date of March 18, 2027, so The Duskbloods will have company whenever it does land.

Our take: a delay we can live with, a date we still want
We would rather see a competitive multiplayer game delayed for balance than launched with the numbers unfinished. Balance is the whole game in a title built on players choosing different approaches, and a studio saying so plainly is better than a vague “polish” line. We also think FromSoftware should name at least a season for 2027 soon, because “sometime next year” is a long wait for a game that has already been through a public test.
Switch 2 owners who wanted a big-name release before the year is out still have the Ocarina of Time remake to look forward to. Until FromSoftware gives more detail, the only firm facts are the ones above: 2027, Switch 2, up to eight players online.
